Fishing Hurts . . . PETA . . .
Shut up PETA!
Sorry but I got a little annoyed by the ad that showed up on my site via Google’s AdSense for PETA’s Fishing Hurts campaign. I have been fishing for nearly 20 years and I have never been injured while fishing!
Ohhhhhh wait! They mean the fish! Ahhhhh, okay well it might hurt them, but I don’t know and neither does PETA. For the most part I am a catch and release fisherman. The fish that I do kill, I eat. I have a feeling the fish I kill for eating are more worried about the knife in the head to kill them than the hook in the mouth to catch them.
I know PETA goes on and on about how when you catch and release fish they don’t survive. I mostly fish for Largemouth Bass and can tell you the first fish I caught this year had clearly been caught AT LEAST twice before, one in the mouth and once foul hooked on his back. The back injury could have been from another predatory fish, but I doubt it. PETA also mentions that fish have very good memories, I’m guessing not so much since they keep getting caught.
I’ll have to figure out how to block adds from PETA, they’re annoying me. I will close with a paraphrased quote from a sticker I saw on an offshore fishing boat, “Vegetarian is ancient word for crappy hunter.”

Ok. This one made me laugh.

Craig, you can block ads from specific domains from your ads. However, at the same time those ads might be worth more & people may be more inclined to click on them.
I had the same problem when we had google ads, unfortunately those days are long over.

Craig,
As Jonathon has said you can block certain advertisers. Login to your Google Adsense account, click on the “Adsense Setup” tab, click on “Competitive Ad Filter” and type in any URL you want to block advertising to. I have a Fly Fishing blog and encountered the same problem. While I personally think we should click on as many of those ads as possible, I know it won’t bankrupt them. They have deep pockets and spend a fortune on advertising. PETA sucks. They push their opinion over science, much like the pundits who say there is no such thing as global warming. IMHO they are as bad as NAMBLA, hiding behind the right to free speech while advocating harm to people.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure I have resolved my PETA ad problem in the Google AdSense tool.
